In Afghanistan's shadow : Baluch nationalism and Soviet temptations
This book examines the rise of Baluch (Baloch/Baluchi) nationalism in the Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan triangle in the late 20th century, and how regional political developments (including the Soviet Union's intervention and influence in Afghanistan) impacted Baluch separatist movements and nationalist aspirations. Harrison places the Baluch movement within a broader geopolitical context: the competition for influence between regional and global powers and the vulnerability of small ethnic groups to the lure of foreign support.
