The himalayan kingdoms: Bhutan, Sikkim, and Nepal
The recent border clashes between China and India have dramatized the strategic location of the Himalayan kingdoms of Nepal, Sikkim, and Bhutan: their position on the fringe of the Communist empire, between India and Chinese-occupied Tibet make them important geostrategically to both the East and West. This is the irst book to evaluate the complex politico-geographical aspects of these three Himalayan countries On a global dimension, the interplay of the forces of democracy and Communism as they influence the geo-political aspects of the three kingdoms are analyzed. On a national scale, the special aspects of geographic location, physical environment, population, economic resources, political aptitude, and cultural heritage are examined in each kingdom in relation to the political control of the territory.
